A Working Machine

Standard

“Be there mid to late afternoonish. Sharp.”

I heard this line on TV the other day and laughed out loud. This sentence accurately describes the pace of my new daily routine. I’m easing into my new role as mother of five.

Before my dear mother left on an airplane, back to her own hearth and home, she shared with me her housekeeping philosophy she has adhered to for over 40 years.

“You may not be working, but those machines had better be working!”

She means the washer, dryer, and dishwasher.

Pearls of wisdom.

So yes, I can take a nap today with my sweet, spanking new cherub because my dishwasher is humming, the washing machine is churning and the dryer is awhirling.

If I hadn’t pulled a muscle giving birth, I’d break into “Proud Mary” Tina Turner style, right now. (May my legs look that good in another 30 years.)

So big wheels keep on turning!
